I manually checked for drivers for my laptop in HP drivers page but HP does not have any suitable drivers for my laptop running Windows 10 Home (64-bit). To double check, I also installed HP Support Assistant software and checked for updates but did not find any new drivers for my laptop. I was having certain problems and my laptop occasionally ran into BSOD while running Windows 8.1 (64-bit) so I clean installed Windows 10 Home (64-bit) version: 1803 from the official Microsoft website.Īfter installing Windows 10 Home (64-bit) version: 1803 from the official Microsoft website, I noticed all the drivers got updated automatically through Windows update and I did not need to manually install any drivers for my HP laptop. There was a second problem in that when you download it, you still have a file in your computer (driver file iaStorA.sys) that interferes.
Windows advice specifically said to use the somewhat earlier version (it was earlier than 17.) EVEN THOUGH the Intel website will tell you that you ought to use the newest version. I followed whatever links were given to me, and the recommendation from WINDOWS was to use a specific version of the RST drivers (which I'm afraid I didn't write down)-but it WASN'T the most recent version. I got an error message saying that the update couldn't be completed because the RST driver needed to be updated. My computer was going thru the process of updating Windows 10 version 1903. I am no computer expert, but I recently went thru this same issue & ultimately had success, so I'll try to explain how that went.
